Becca and Hector were amongst that first few couples who booked me to capture their wedding earlier this year. They did this despite the fact I had only just arrived in California, I hadn’t shot loads of LA weddings and I was just a guy from the UK looking for weddings to shoot with what, at the time, was a modest Californian portfolio. I’ve always made it very clear that going professional is a recent thing and I left behind a very good career to do this. I’ve never doubted my skills and truly believe I can make every couple happy with the end product. The challenge for me is getting couples to believe in me and my work knowing I’m a newcomer to the wedding scene here. Luckily for me there are couples out there like Becca and Hector who looked beyond this and truly care about photography. At the end of our first meeting Becca suggested I invite Clare my wife to the evening. I declined, as I’m there to do a job and that’s just not something I would ever do, but that’s not the point – she genuinely wanted to give me that option.
I love everything about what I do but meeting great people is by far the most rewarding, being able to then produce something that helps them re-live moments and memories for decades after – that is priceless. Those who know these two or were at the wedding know all about their story, know how much emotion was present throughout the day and know how perfect a day it was. It was an honour to be there plain and simple.
These are just a few images I took that day. I think these speak for themselves.
