Erin and Matt’s Camarillo Airport Wedding will long stay in the memory. It stands out not just for the unique nature of the venue (how often do you see a wedding on an airfield and reception in an aircraft hangar!?) but for the wonderful people, the raw emotions and for the incredible dance moves on display in said aircraft hangar…
Weddings are inherently stressful things for couples and their families. They want everything to be perfect, they may get upset when things go wrong, or a plan doesn’t quite come together. Usually it’s about the material or aesthetic elements of the day, like the table plans aren’t right or the bouquet wasn’t how they envisaged it. Sometimes what’s important can be forgotten, a sense of perspective might be lost.
Sadly Erin’s reality was spending her wedding day without her beloved mom by her side after she tragically passed away a few months before the wedding. From what Erin has told me, she was an incredible person – compassionate, selfless, intelligent, full of energy and unbridled love for her family. I know they all miss her terribly.
Couples hire me to observe and capture their wedding story in an honest way, whatever that story is. Sometimes that can be tough, as you feel you’re intruding on something so private that you shouldn’t be in the room, let alone take pictures of it. There were many bitter-sweet moments like that throughout this day. I know Erin and Matt treasure these pictures and I also have no doubt that Erin’s mom was by her side every step of the way that day.
Please reach out to me if you’d like me to document your wedding story, wherever in the world that might be.
