Some of you will remember Jen and Tari from their unique Arts District Blog engagement session earlier this summer, which was one of my favourite of the year. Their Laguna Beach Wedding, a snippet of which is shown below, turned out to be pretty darn incredible too.
The guys at First Look Films stole my thunder with their pre-amble to their beautiful highlight film when they said that this day didn’t feel any different to any other wedding, despite it being their first same sex wedding – as was also the case for me. It’s so very true, it just didn’t matter and it didn’t leave me thinking I had to adjust how I work to accommodate the two brides – it all just made sense. That might also have something to do with how awesome the whole group were on the day – how easy everyone made it for use to do our thing and the seemingly conscious decision of Jen and Tari to chose the vendors they did. Having vendors with same sex wedding ‘experience’ just wasn’t that important to them – they asked the question but the answer didn’t have to be yes. When it came to photography, the ability to tell their story in an exciting, honest, fresh and creative way was most important to them.
I am so happy and humbled that they both chose me to capture their story in the way they wanted it told.
I must say a special thanks to Hanna from Hanna Photography who was at my side for this one, creating some beautiful images which complimented my work just perfectly.
