Chelsea Old Town Hall Brydon Room Wedding (Mike & Marie-Claire)
Mike & Marie-Claire’s wedding day was one of those proper feel-good London celebrations – relaxed, personal, and full of laughter from beginning to end. It started with a calm (as much as one can be) morning at The Hoxton in Shepherd’s Bush, followed by an intimate ceremony in the Brydon Room at Chelsea Old Town Hall. And then came the moment everyone will remember: a ridiculously colourful confetti exit as their friends and family lined the steps cheering them on. From there it was straight into lunch and speeches at The Phene, before a red bus rolled up to take everyone back to The Eagle in Shepherd’s Bush – their local pub, packed with familiar faces, pints, music and dancing. A few final street portraits outside, complete with cowboy boots and hats…

Chelsea Old Town Hall Brydon Room ceremony
Chelsea Old Town Hall is always a favourite for a London wedding, and the Brydon Room was the perfect setting for Mike & Marie-Claire’s ceremony – intimate, stylish, and full of anticipation as guests gathered and waited together before everything began. The atmosphere felt warm and close from the start, with family and friends leaning in to catch every moment. It really was such a close and engaged group of people which made my job way easier.
The flower girls stole a few hearts on the way in, and then Mike’s reaction when Marie-Claire appeared with her dad said everything. Their vows were emotional without being overly serious and the readings from friends gave the whole ceremony an even more personal feel. After the kiss and all the happy reactions in the room, the signing of the licence rounded everything off perfectly before everyone spilled outside ready to celebrate properly.
The most colourful confetti exit on the steps
If you’re going to do confetti at Chelsea Old Town Hall… this is how you do it.
As soon as Mike & Marie-Claire stepped outside, their guests lined the edges of the steps and turned it into a full-on confetti tunnel – colourful, loud, chaotic in the best possible way. There’s something about that moment that just hits differently: everyone’s smiling, everyone’s involved, and it instantly sets the tone for the rest of the day. I lost the couple behind the explosion of colour for a good few frames!
We followed it up with a big group photo on the steps (always a classic), then a few quick portraits while the excitement was still high – relaxed, natural, and full of that post-ceremony glow.
Lunch and speeches at The Phene
From the Town Hall we headed to the stunning and iconic pub – The Phene for lunch, drinks and speeches. This part of the day had such a brilliant, effortless vibe. Staff were amazing, food looked incredible and none of it was rushed or overly structured, just one of those weddings where everyone seems genuinely happy to be there and the conversations and laughter carry the whole room.
The speeches were full of proper reactions – big laughs, a few emotional moments, and loads of little interactions happening at the same time. Some of my favourite frames from this section are the ones that don’t need any direction at all: kids playing on the floor between courses, friends leaning in with a drink in hand, and those quick glances between Mike & Marie-Claire throughout.
Red bus to The Eagle, Shepherd’s Bush
And then… the red bus pulled up.
Always a classic and guaranteed to give the energy lift to everyone after all that food and wine. It’s such a great way to keep everyone together and avoid that post-meal “where do we go now?” drift, especially in London. Ride itself was also a fun one.
The next stop was The Eagle in Shepherd’s Bush, Mike & Marie-Claire’s local pub. This was the kind of place where they know everyone, everyone knows them, and it feels more like walking into a family gathering than a formal evening reception. Such a great idea and perfect for them as a couple.
Irish singer, dancing, and street portraits (cowboy hats included)
The evening at The Eagle had that intimate, packed-in, proper pub-celebration feel – pints on tables, people chatting in corners, bursts of dancing, and a brilliant Irish singer/guitarist keeping the atmosphere buzzing without it ever feeling staged.
As the night rolled on, it turned into the kind of celebration where you don’t need a “first dance moment” or a schedule to force it – people just naturally came together, had a great time, and made the most of being in the same room.
We finished with a few quick portraits outside on the street – the perfect little reset after the noise and movement inside and Marie-Claire stepping out in a cowboy hat (and boots) with her family, genuinely felt like the most fitting and final detail to end the story on.
Planning a Chelsea Old Town Hall Brydon Room wedding?
- Arrive a little early so you can enjoy the build-up in the waiting room with guests before you head in.
- The Brydon Room is beautifully intimate, so even smaller weddings feel full of atmosphere and emotion.
- The steps outside are perfect for confetti — bring more than you think, and ask guests to line both sides for the best photos.
- Build in 10 minutes after the ceremony for a quick group photo and a few relaxed portraits while everyone’s buzzing.
- The Phene works brilliantly for a laid-back lunch and speeches without it feeling too “formal reception”.
- If you’re moving across London, a red bus (or shared transport) keeps the energy up and guests together.
- Finishing at a local pub like The Eagle in Shepherd’s Bush makes the evening feel personal, fun and properly you..
